Scandalous Lipstick Collection Review & Swatches – Felony, Vice, Immortal, Depraved, Crime

Scandalous Lipstick Collection Review & Swatches – Felony, Vice, Immortal, Depraved, Crime

This lovely collection of colours is called the Scandalous collection. They’re available from Makeup Revolution’s website or the Superdrug website. If you buy all five from the Makeup Revolution site you get all of them for just £4. They are available separately for just £1 each.

  • Felony is a bright yellow
  • Vice is a nice tangerine orange
  • Immortal is a nice pastel blue
  • Depraved is a true purple
  • Crime is a magenta pink

As you can see they have good coverage despite the unusual colours. Felony has the worst coverage but that’s easily sorted with a good yellow liner. They’re very buttery in texture so keep your lips nice and moisturised.

I do also love the packaging. If you’re an MUA fan you’ll recognise it. This is slightly different with the colour on the top rather than the bottom. It means you know which colour you’re picking up, which is very helpful if you have a lot of lipsticks.

I love these colours. They’re so unusual and brilliant for festival season! Well worth picking up.

Revolution Give Them Nightmares Palette Review & Swatches

Revolution Give Them Nightmares Palette Review & Swatches

Give Them Nightmare is another palette from the Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette range. It costs £6 and contains 12 shimmer shades and 6 matt shades.

As you can see from the swatches below, all the shadows are highly pigmented and so very soft. The only real issue is White Noise which doesn’t apply as well as I’d like. It’s still a good shadow but not great. There’s also an insert with all the names on.
It comes with a double ended sponge applicator and a full length mirror on the inside which is prefect for application.

    • ~ Top Row ~
    • Who’s There – Dark Burgundy Shimmer
    • Danger Coming – Navy Shimmer
    • Lethal – Turquoise Shimmer
    • Pretty Zombie – Lilac/blue duo tone shimmer
    • Bump In the Night –  Lighter Navy shimmer
    • Poisonous – Slightly Green Navy shimmer
    • ~ Middle Row ~
    • Lawless – Black based purple shimmer
    • The Hunger – Moss shimmer
    • I am watching you – Deep purple shimmer
    • Beyond the night – Satin black with glitter
    • Wicked –  Dark green shimmer
    • Friday the 13th – Dark Grey shimmer
    • ~ Bottom Row ~
    • White Noise – Matte white
    • Elm St – Matte Deep Green
    • Ash –  Matte Blue
    • Boo – Matte Dark Purple
    • Depravity – Matte Bright Purple
    • Darkness – Matte Black

This is probably one of the best smokey palettes I own. There is a wealth of dark toned colours in this palette. You can create some wicked bold smoky looks.

I adore this palette and for £6 it’s excellent.

Scandalous Eyeshadow Set Review & Swatches – Acid, Glow, Get Ready, It, Rave All Night

Scandalous Eyeshadow Set Review & Swatches – Acid, Glow, Get Ready, It, Rave All Night

The scandalous eye shadow set, is a set of ultra bright shadows from Makeup Revolution. They are available separately for £1 or if bought together you get all five for £4.

The yellow is called Acid! It’s the one with the worst pay off and is slightly chalky. It’s still very bright but I’d recommend using a white base under it to get the best vibrancy.

The green is called Go! A better pay off but still a little on the chalky side. It’s a vibrant green and it’s super bright.

The orange is called Get Ready! This has a great pay off. Super bright and a good consistency.

The pink is called It! A great hot pink and great consistency.

The purple is called Rave All Night! The best of the bunch with the best pay off and texture. I love this one.

I love this set, it’s super cheap and it’s got some good colours. I don’t really like Acid! all that much but it’s free if you buy the set. Used with a wet brush or a white base it’s still good. I also like that these are UV light reactive so you can use these to Rave All Night!

Very much worth it!

Lime Who? Meet the Revolution

Lime Who? Meet the Revolution

So I stumbled across this company in my journey to find new and exciting lip colours. It’s a brand new company (started in March of this year). It’s called MakeUp Revolution and it’s a UK brand. They’ll be launching in Superdrug later in the year but they’re already available on the Superdrug website.

They have a collection called Scandalous! It features five bright colours, three of which are brilliant dupes for Lime Crime’s lipsticks. So let us do a compare and contrast, shall we?

At the top we have Felony, it’s a bright yellow that’s a great match for New Yolk city.

Next we have Depraved which is a wonderful dupe for Airborne Unicorn.

Lastly, there’s Immortal which is a lovely replacement for Oh No She didn’t.

Now as you can see, the MakeUp Revolution shades are slightly less opaque than the Lime Crime lipsticks. However, the MR lipsticks are opaque and give great coverage. The worst is Felony but then New Yolk City has coverage issues. A little mix of lip tar (from occ) fixes that issue for both of them.
I love the packaging on LC’s lipsticks but the lids crack so easily and it feels like cheap plastic. Once the lids crack they won’t stay on.
MR’s lipsticks also feel like cheap plastic but I do like the pot of colour at the top. It makes it very easy to find the colour you’re looking for.
Where the MR lipsticks fare better is they aren’t drying. They have a much more buttery texture.

Lastly cost. This is where Makeup Revolutions wins hands down.

  • Lime Crime’s lipsticks cost £12.50 from UK retailers. It has 3.5g of product in it.
  • MakeUp Revolutions lipsticks cost £1 from UK retailers. It has 3.8g of product in it.

No, I didn’t make a typing error, these dupes really do cost just £1 with more product.

So I’d highly recommend these if you’re on a budget and want some crazy colours. Sometimes the extra cost just isn’t worth it.

Clone Wars – Serpent vs Serpentina

Clone Wars – Serpent vs Serpentina

Meet Serpent by MakeUp Revolution, it’s almost an exact match for Serpentina by Lime Crime.

I love the packaging on LC’s lipsticks but the lids crack so easily and it feels like cheap plastic. Once the lids crack they won’t stay on. MUR’s lipsticks also feels like cheap plastic but I do like the pot of colour at the top. It makes it very easy to find the colour you’re looking for.

Where the MUR lipsticks fare better is they aren’t drying. They have a much more buttery texture. They are however a little less opaque and work better with the help of a lip liner. MakeUp Academy’s Forest Green liner is perfect for this.

No I didn’t make a typing error, these dupes really do cost just £1 with more product. So if you’re in love with Serpentina but don’t want to pay a ridiculous price, find Lime Crime’s lipsticks drying or just can’t stand Doe Deere’s behaviour here’s a great alternative.

(Lipstick on my lips is Serpent)

Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquers Review & Swatches

Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquers Review & Swatches

Meet my new favourite matte lipsticks. They’re the Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquers from Makeup Revolution. They cost just £3 from the Makeup Revolution website or instore at your local Superdrug.

Here we have the seven original colours in this collection

  • Keep Lying For You –  Twilight Lavender colour
  • I Fall In Love – Bright Rose Pink
  • Keep Trying For You – Classic Blue based Red
  • You Took My Love – Magenta Pink
  • Keep Crying For You – Carmine Pink
  • What I Believe – Neutral Baby Pink
  • Keep Flying For You – Soft Orange

I adore these. They’re cream based, which is slightly more forgiving than some liquid formulations. They’re all intensely pigmented and opaque. Of course given that they are long stay and matte, they are a little drying on the lips.
For maximum wear they do need to be applied on dry, oil and liner free lips. Doing this they have lasted upwards of 8 hours on my lips. However if you’re going to eat anything oily you might need to reapply them. These don’t tend to come off on glasses or cups and unlike others they don’t bleed.
If you’re unsure about being able to get a straight edge with the doe foot applicator you can use a lip brush for a perfect shape.

I’ve said above that I adore these, so it’s no surprise I’m going to give them five out of five. They’re cheap, they excellent quality and they work! How could I not!

MakeUp Academy Peel off Base Coat

MakeUp Academy Peel off Base Coat

MakeUp Academy’s Peel Off Base polish costs £2 either online or instore at your local Superdrug.

This is designed for easy removal of glitter polish. It’s a god send for anyone who loves the look of glitter polish but hates removing it.

Application is easy. Simply apply it as a basecoat before your nail colour. You need a good two coats to get the proper effect and they do need to be left to dry completely. Don’t use this on top of another base coat, it will make the polish separate. The same will happen if you’ve smoothed your nails using a nail block. Naked, natural nails are best for this to work.
I’ve also noticed it’s water soluble when not quite dry, So don’t was your hands until you’ve put on at least one coat of normal polish over the top.

Removal is where this polish shines. You can simply peel it off using your nails but it’s easier to get under the edges using a pair of tweezers. It’ll mostly come off in one chunk. You will often be left with a few bit around the edges with will pell off but can also be removed with polish remover if you prefer.

There is one disadvantage. It does lessen the chip resistance of any polish used. The pay off though is very much worth it for me.

I love this base coat. It does exactly what it says it does. It’s a simply awesome price.

Urban Decay, Electric Palette Review & Swatches

Urban Decay, Electric Palette Review & Swatches

Are your friends electric?

Electric is the new palette from Urban Decay. However this is not a set of pressed shadows, this is a set of pressed pigments. That means it can be used all over the face as cheek colour or eye colour. It also means it can be used as eye liner or lip colour with the right medium.

  • Revolt – Bright metallic silver shimmer with glitter
  • Gonzo – Bright turquoise with a pearl sheen
  • Slowburn – Bright red based orange with a pearl sheen
  • Savage – Bright matt hot pink
  • Fringe – Bright metallic teal
  • Chaos – Royal blue with a pearl sheen
  • Jilted – Bright metallic fuchsia with a blue shift
  • Urban – Bright metallic purple
  • Freak – Bright green with a gold shift
  • Thrash – Bright lime green with a gold pearl

The colours are super bright indoors and outdoors but despite their fluorescent nature they do not glow under UV light. Bit of a shame really but they’re still lovely.
Now I am going to mention, if you’re American four of the shades (slowburn, savage, jilted and urban) are not for use in the immediate eye area. This is not because they’re unsafe just that the FDA hasn’t tested neon pigments. We on the other hand have, so they are safe and they have passed the tests here as the warning on the American packages does not exist on ours.
The set comes with a double ended brush, which itself is a great brush.

This set is permanent, which is great and it cost £38 from Urban Decay or your local stockist.

Sugarpill Cold Chemistry Palette Review & Swatches

Sugarpill Cold Chemistry Palette Review & Swatches

A Big Bang

Cold Chemistry is a wonderful palette from Sugarpill cosmetics. It costs £25.00 from LoveMakeUp.co.uk or $34.00 from Sugarpill direct. Each shadow has 3.5 grams.

What can I say about this palette other than it is full of the most beautiful sparkly cool based colours.

  • Soot and Stars is a dark grey with a grey glitter in it
  • Diamond Eyes is a white pearl
  • Elemental Chaos is a deep purple with an iridescent blue
  • Subterranean is a deep green with a lighter green shift

As usual from Sugarpill the pay off is amazing and there’s so many looks you can create from just one palette.
The shadows are buttery and intensely pigmented. They apply like a dream and blend much the same too. They’re soft so no need to press hard to get what you need.

I adore this palette so much. Very well worth it.
