Clone Wars – Lime Crime Red Velvet Dupes

Clone Wars – Lime Crime Red Velvet Dupes

Quick swatch time Lime Crime Red Velvet (original batch) vs Jeffree Star Redrum vs MakeUp Academy Reckless vs MakeUp Revolution Keep Trying For You.
The Lime Crime Velvetine and Jeffree Star Velour Lipsticks are both liquid based. The MakeUp Revolution And MakeUp Academy matte lipsticks are both creme based. Drying time is shorter for the liquid versions. Wear time is better for the creme versions.
Even though Redrum has run on the back of my hand it didn’t on my lips. If you have fine lines you might find the liquid formulation is a problem though. A good concealer or clear lip liner will stop that from happening. Jeffree Stars formula is much more forgiving on the lips and has better coverage. The creme based versions are slightly harder wearing and more forgiving on the lips.
Here’s some good news both the MakeUp Revolution and MakeUp Academy ones only cost £3 whereas the Lime Crime costs $20 (roughly £14) and Jeffree Star is £13.

Nail Polish Haul – Nails Inc, Barry M and Sensationail

Nail Polish Haul – Nails Inc, Barry M and Sensationail

Haul post!

I’ve done a little middle of the month shopping spree (I’ve done another one but I’ll post about that when it arrives). This time it was at Boots.

I’ve been wanting to get my hands on the sunset nail varnish from Barry M since I heard about it. Reviews of this have been hit and miss. The basic premise is that the new shades and the top coat ‘cure’ and are supposed to last for up to 10 days. Now while there wasn’t really a shade that shouted ‘buy me’ I wanted to try it out. So I picked three complimentary shades for nail art. They’re on my nails now, so we’ll see how long they last.

Next is a couple of Sensationail gel polishes. Firstly there is a plain white polish, which I’ve bought to use as a base for nail art designs. The second is a French manicure kit, which I hope to use at some point.

Beneath all that is the ‘Ultimate Accessory’ bag from Nails INC. I was looking at this back at Christmas but back then it cost £42 (dropped to £21 at one point). It’s now only £15 and there’s a full size top coat in there, which alone costs £11. Since it’s my favourite top coat I thought’d I’d grab it before it was gone.

Barry M Matte Top Coat Review & Swatch

Barry M Matte Top Coat Review & Swatch

Barry M’s Matte top coat does exactly what it says on the bottle. It’ll make any polish nice and matte. It costs £2.99 online or from your local stockist.

It’s pretty much perfect because it does what it says it should. Even fake nails will be turned matte with this polish over the top. The chip resistance is good although after a while you can wear it down and it goes a little shiny.

However it’s only £2.99 and really does do the job perfectly.

Go Collection Review & Swatches – Go To Hell, Go To Heaven, Go!, Go To The City

Go Collection Review & Swatches – Go To Hell, Go To Heaven, Go!, Go To The City

The Go collection is a selection of palette’s from Makeup Revolution. They cost £3.99 and are now part of the Last Chance to buy.

Go to Hell is a collection of darker shades in an interesting pattern. They’ve got lovely colour pay off, the shimmer shade performs much better than the matte shades. It’s a lovely combination, although the smaller ones are harder to get the colours out of. I’d give this one four out of five.

Go to Heaven is a collection of neutral shades in the same design. Again great pay off for the price, with the shimmers performing better. Some of them are very close to my skin tone so it’s hard to see them in a swatch. If you have darker skin they’ll show up nicely. It’s a nice neutral palette, again though the smaller shades are harder to get a brush in. I still really like this design. I’m only going to give this one three out of five because I’m not really a neutral shadow person.

The Go Palette is a selection of six shimmery shades, with one large highlighter and two blushes. The shimmers have awesome pay off as does the highlighter and the blushes are no less pigmented. Despite the neutralness of this palette I really like it. A few of the shimmers are really nice and really good for helping blend out a smoky eye. I’m going to give this one four out of five.

The Go To the City palette is in the same format as the Go Palette. Six deeper shimmer colours, one highlighter and two blushes. These are more on the cool end of the scale but never the less are just as pigmented and creamy. I adore these colours, some of which are really similar to the colours in the Give Them Nightmares palette.  This one also gets a four out of five.

The Go and the Go To The City Palette combined are great for going from day to night. So these are all you’d need to take away for the weekend.

Lime Crime is against bullying*

Lime Crime is against bullying*

*depending on the situation

This is one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen Lime Crime post. Aside from the absolute denial of the lack of security for four months, the possibility of Velvetines having unsafe ingredients (which BTW LC say are totally safe), there is now proof that Lime Crime thinks it’s okay when you bully other people on their behalf.

Lime Crime said on it’s Instagram

image

That’s encouraging right?

As you all know Lime Crime has been deleting comments about the scandal, people losing money and the possibility of unsafe ingredients under the guise of this is ‘our house’. As far as I’m concerned they’re allowed to do it. Freedom of speech does not exist on public company pages. If it’s right to do it is another question altogether.

In light of this someone asked

image

So you’d expect the answer to be the same. All harassment is wrong. We don’t stand for that. Only Lime Crime answer was this…

image

DEPENDS???

DEPENDS???

No. Harassment is never right. Should never be allowed. Not fucking depends.

If you’re still buying Lime Crime you’re buying from a company that’s publicly stated that harassment is okay and allowed on their pages if you are bullying people who no longer support Lime Crime.

Revolution Vivid Blush Lacquers Heat and Desire – Review & Swatch

Revolution Vivid Blush Lacquers Heat and Desire – Review & Swatch

Meet two of the Vivid Blush Lacquers from Makeup Revolution.

They’re currently on the Last Chance to Buy page at half price. So these beauties are only £1. There’s a good quantity of product in the bottle and they’ll last you ages.

I have Heat, which is a lovely warm rusty shade. Desire is a more salmon shade of blusher.

As you can see from the swatch they’re highly pigmented. That’s from one single pump. In fact one single pump is more than enough for both cheeks. They also long lasting. Even on my oil prone skin I’ve had these last well over five hours.

I adore these and am sad to see them go from the MUR range. Get them now before they’re gone!

Melange nail polish by Illamasqua Review & Swatch

Melange nail polish by Illamasqua Review & Swatch

Melange from Illamasqua is described as a golden teal with a matte finish. It costs £14.50 online or your nearest counter.

It’s definitely teal, the greener end of teal. The gold from the gold microglitter contained in it. It’s a wonderful shade and reminds me of old English houses. It’s that kind of green. I’d not say it’s matte though. It’s got a definite shine, if a little dull. Kind of like old well used pottery.

I did use a top coat and got a great picture. This one is also in natural sunlight, rather than indoors and you can see how pretty it is.

The only thing wrong with it is the brush. It’s not very wide but that’s the standard Illamasqua brush.
It is opaque after one coat and therefore dries quickly. It’s quite chip resistant but not overly so.
All in all I love it.

Nails Inc Whitehall Magnetic Plosh Review & Swatch

Nails Inc Whitehall Magnetic Plosh Review & Swatch

Nails Inc’s Whitehall magnetic nail polish. It costs £13.00 from the Nails Inc Website or your local stockist.

Whitehall is a black/green polish.

When first coated on the nails it does have a nice shine and if used without the magnet effect is actually quite an interesting shade.
It’s opaque in one coat but if you’re going for the magnetic look you are best off with two to prevent it being sheer in places. Just let it dry for a short time between coats.
The brush in the bottle is just right for me.
It’s not particularly chip resistant but will last a day for me. It’s last a lot longer if you don’t work with coins.

How to

  • Paint the first layer and let dry
  • Paint the second layer
  • Immediately place the magnetic cap over the nail. There is a small lip to rest on you nail bed
  • Leave for ten seconds
  • Let dry and use a top coat

So is it worth it? . Don’t expect high chip resistance. It’s a nice effect and can be used with other brands magnetic caps for different looks on each nail if you like. A good little number for your nails.
