The Repunzal DUO in Ariel

The Repunzal DUO in Ariel

Repunzal-Duo-Ariel

I discovered this brush at the Hair UK trade show this year. I was attracted by the pretty colours if I am going, to be honest, but it turns out that was a good thing.

Repunzal-Duo-Ariel-Bristles

It’s a detangler brush in its simplest form. As you can see from the above shot the bristles are widely spaced and of varying lengths. This means you can use it on wet hair and it’ll cause a whole lot less damage than a regular brush. I\ve found it perfect for brushing through my hair both wet and dry. It takes a little getting used to as it doesn’t really grip the hair, more glides through it.

It’s also got a hidden gem in the handle. Mine did get a little squashed but it works just as well. It’s a little hair remover for the brush itself. I have to admit while it’s a nice touch I find hair really easy to remove without it at all.

It costs £18.99 online for this design but there is a regular brush shape for £19.99. The handle on the Ariel design isn’t particularly easy to grip due to the shape. So should you have trouble gripping items the regular brush would be the better version. However, I like it better than my usual brush. My hair does feel better with this brush. I’d recommend it.

Eat Sleep MakeUp Repeat Pictorial – Purple and Pink Eyeshadow

Eat Sleep MakeUp Repeat Pictorial – Purple and Pink Eyeshadow

Something a little different for you today and something I’ve certainly never done on this blog before. As part of my rolling Project Pan #projectonepan I promised I’d do at least one look with the palette I was using. While I have done that (Green Halo Eye Tutorial), I wanted to do at least one more with this palette. So today I present to you a pictorial on how to do a pink and purple eye with the Eat Sleep MakeUp Repeat palette.

Start with the Neon Pink (Right Now) in the crease and blend upwards. Place a purple (Magician) on the outer third and blend. Use the brightest blue (Sleep All Day) On the inner third. In the middle use a shimmer blue (Rave All Night). Deepen the outer with a darker purple (Ibiza Heaven). Highlight the brow (Rave Off) and then inner corner with the same. Add liner and lashes and you’re done.

You don’t have to use the white based highlighter for the brows, it’s a bit 90’s. However, we’re going for bright here so it works.

So what did you think? Would you like to see more pictorials?

Revolution Pro Supreme Highlighter Ice Review & Swatch

Revolution Pro Supreme Highlighter Ice Review & Swatch

From the new Revolution Pro line comes a brand new set of highlighters. There’s three to chose from each containing 3 different shades. They cost £6 each and come with 11.1g of product. The choice is from Ice, Gold and Metals. Of course being on the light end of the skin depth spectrum I chose Ice as in both of the others there is at least one shade I won’t be able to use.

The Ice palette contains three white based highlighters. A stunning blue, Champagne and pink shift. The formula of these is very very soft. I was expecting them to be baked but they’re not at all. I even managed to damage it when trying to take a macro shot and once you touch a brush to it you can see where it’s been.

Highlighter is something Revolution beauty does really well and this is no exception.

I used it for the first time on camera and I was stunned at how great they are. I was using a fairly light hand and a fan brush and ended up with a high shine. I mean look at these swatches.

Good right?

This palette is soft and you need very little. I can’t believe I almost passed on a palette that makes me want to destash (almost) every highlighter I own and keep this.

If you like a highlighter that’s bold you’re going to love this one. Get it at RevolutionBeauty or Superdrug.

Barry M Holographic Eye Toppers Review & Swatch

Barry M Holographic Eye Toppers Review & Swatch

Barry M‘s Holographic eye toppers cost £4.99 from your local stockist. This is one of those products that despite being labelled holographic is more duo chrome. There are 4 colours in this range.

barry-header

  • Supernova is a green/gold shift with a blue base
  • Asteroid is a blue/purple shift with a slight green sheen
  • Luna is a blue/purple shift with a blue base
  • Star Dust is a Purple/pink shift.

They dry down on the eye for all-day wear. I did find that they would move the colour I used as my base shadow if I was a little too heavy handed on the application. However, given the shine, you really couldn’t tell unless you were going to be checking out the colour of my iris.

They’re sheer on the first coat but if you do let them dry they will take a second coat that will be much more opaque. That does mean they can be used alone if you so wish. Of course being cream they don’t really blend out, so more suited to cut creases but they’re incredibly pretty.

They’re quite a good dupe for Lime Crime’s Diamond Dews, just with less giltter. It’s a shame the range is so limited in colour. I do like these.

Go Compare – Kat Von D vs Revoltuion Pro Eye Primer

Go Compare – Kat Von D vs Revoltuion Pro Eye Primer

As part of the Revolution Pro range launch, there was a set of £4 eye primer pots released. Just like a lot of the range they’ve very much been forgotten by the big YouTubers and beauty bloggers. However I am not a big YouTuber or beauty blogger and I am very much interested in finding an eye primer that isn’t expensive and works on oily eyelids, so I thought I’d try it out. If you’d like to see how I got along please check out the video linked below.

If you’d like to get it, it’s available for £4 on the RevolutionBeauty Website.

My Little Pony Collab | Princess Luna Eye Shadow Tutorial

I was fortunate enough to be invited to another Collab, this time for My Little Pony.

To create this look I used the Eat Sleep MakeUp Repeat from Revolution Beauty and the Urban Decay Black Palette. For the sliver, I used Aqua Seal from Revolution Beauty and Tiara from Sugarpill cosmetics.

Why I’ll no longer buy from Kat Von D

Why I’ll no longer buy from Kat Von D

katvond

In short, because she is anti-vaccine but also because I began to see the mask slip.

KVD

Kat Von D has been a controversial figure for a while. From accusations of white supremacy in her past (she dated a white supremacist) to her comments about meat eaters, she’s never been far from controversy.

I’m very much of the mind that if you do not repeat past behaviour perhaps you have changed as a person. Kat is very vocal about her Latina roots and these accusations are many years old. I felt like she had either been slandered or realised the path she was heading down was vile and turned her back on it. This recent post by her (screenshotted on the left) made me question if she had changed or just changed her focus.

Those who are racists see the world as very black and white (excuse the pun). It’s a very us vs them situation and I think this comes across in her post. It’s Kat against the world, which is something I do see as part of her Veganism.

She is a militant vegan and a hypocrite. While she does not consume or wear animal products some of her makeup line until recently was not vegan. That didn’t really strike me until I read this and started to question what I knew about her. I mean before this change she was being rude about meat eaters that were upset about Cecil the lion being killed. Yet her line at this point was not fully Vegan. It did not occur to me at the time as her line was not available in the UK so I had not researched it properly, nor was I looking to only buy vegan cosmetics at the time.

Back to the current post. It’s true, getting pregnant means everyone thinks they have a say on how you bring up a child. So when I started to read it, it was fine. Home birthing can be controversial as pregnancy can be dangerous. Being Vegan and having a child be vegan is also controversial but done right with the right support can work in this day and age. Kat has money, wealth and access to people who will be able to make sure the child is nutritionally fulfilled. The next two words said everything I needed to know.

without vaccinations

Oh no Kat.

She then goes on to tell us to shut up. She’s dropped what she thinks is a truth bomb and expects us to just blindly support her. Don’t question the fact you’re making a very dangerous choice with your child’s life, that can also badly affect those around them too. Vaccines are not optional. That’s not opinion. That’s scientific fact. Diseases that maim and kill people are wiped out or almost gone due to vaccines. Some are starting to make a come back due to mothers listening to people like her. People are literally dying from bad advice like this. Some of the people who are dying, can’t get vaccinated due to broken immune systems and people who don’t vaccinate their kids due to these beliefs are killing herd immunity which protects them.

The ‘doctor‘ who claimed vaccines cause Autism was struck off for more than just the fraudulent 12 person study all this is based on. He also has an ulterior motive to his claims, wanting to patient a single vaccine for measles. Yes, the man behind the Anti-Vaccine movement isn’t against vaccines. Just one that doesn’t make him money.

If you want the basics of why vaccines don’t cause autism here’s a good start and here’s a good scientific article on why vaccines are not bad check here. If you still think they’re being pushed for money reasons how about these links?

This from what I’ve read the anti-vaccine movement seems to be a very first world privileged movement. People who can not afford or get vaccines are literally dying to get them. It’s a very selfish thing to do and I’ve honestly lost all respect for her. While you won’t see me buying any more of her products you may see them pop up on my site as I use what I own.

So that is why I won’t be buying anymore Kat Von D products. How about you? Are you still buying her products? Is there anything you’d like to see duped?
