Revolution Beauty Halloween – Beautiful Darkness Palette Review & Swatches

Revolution Beauty Halloween – Beautiful Darkness Palette Review & Swatches

Beautiful Darkness is the Vegan palette from the Halloween range for 2018. It contains a set of 12 deep colours perfect for creating your Halloween night look.

Revolution-Halloween-Beautiful-Darkness-Box

You can get yours from Revolution Beauty or Superdrug for £6. There’s 12 shadows, 4 of which are shimmers and the rest mattes.  2 larger shades at 1.8g each and 10 at 1.5g each. The palette has a 12-month expiry date once opened.

I love the box, which is why it’s pictured on the right. I also love the fact it’s not matte black when you take it out of the box, it’s burgundy so easy to spot amongst your other Revolution palettes.

There are two larger shades that are lighter, so great for setting your shadows is you’re of a lighter skin tone. There’s also a green shift shimmer, which is very much like Creep from the Obsession Be Very Afraid palette. I can’t you how much I love this shade. It really makes a look pop. All of these are lightly grey toned, so perfect for Halloween.

Revolution Beauty Halloween Haunted Collection Lipsticks Review & Swatch – Sinister Seduction, Corpse Bride, Blood Lust, Vampire’s Thurst & Captivating Curse

The Haunted Halloween 2018 collection from Revolution Beauty keeps on coming with a set of 5 lipsticks. Each cost £4, have 3.2g of product and a 12-month shelf life.

Revolution-Halloween-Haunted-Lipstick-Collection-Small

I love the packaging on these The white skulls and red flowers are on a sticker, but in a way that’s a good thing. Once it starts getting scuffed you’ll be able to remove it. The small pot of colour at the end also makes each colour easy to spot in your collection.

Each colour also has a super cute skull cut into the bullet.

I mean how cute is that?

So let’s go onto the colours themselves because as much as obsessing over packaging is fun what we really want is good colours that work right?

  • Sinister Seduction – coral light pink
  • Corpse Bride – purple toned pink
  • Blood Lust – blue based red
  • Vampire’s Thrust – berry toned red
  • Captivating Curse –  black

They’re all described as matte shades and I personally don’ t think that’s true. They’re more satin finish, excluding the black, which has definite shine. Unsurprisingly the lighter shades have better and more opaque coverage. Captivating Curse is not opaque and that was the best swatch I could get without a liner underneath. So I’d definitely advise liner underneath for a fully black lip.

They’re not bad, in fact, they’re great for the price. Revolution does better lipsticks for this price point but for a cheap Halloween lipstick, they’re still good. I’ll probably be passing on Vampire’s Thurst and Captivating Curse but the others I’ll wear.

If you’d like to grab one or more of these they’re available at Superdrug (currently on 3 for 2) or Revolution Beauty for £4 each.

Revolution Beauty Halloween Haunted Lights Highlighter 2018 Review & Swatch

Revolution Beauty Halloween Haunted Lights Highlighter 2018 Review & Swatch

Edit: It came to my attention that this was blank when published. I do not know why that happened.

Haunted Lights is the newest version of the Halloween highlighter from Revolution beauty. It’s available at Revolution Beauty and Superdrug for £4 each. It has g and has a 12-month shelf life.

Revolution-Halloween-Haunted-Lights-600

Revolution-Halloween-Haunted-Lights-SwatchAs you can see it’s the same design as last year but this time the undertone of the highlighter is different. It’s green this year. It’s still got the white cast to this so if you’re of a deeper skin tone this might not be for you.

I think that’s much more Halloween appropriate. Great for that witchy highlight or other spooky monsters.

You can’t really see it in the swatch but there are microfine bits of glitter in this highlighter as there was last year. So if you’re not into glittery highlighter this might not be for you. However they don’t tend to fall onto the face, so that’s a plus.

When you first get it there is a top layer, possibly from the pressing that means you might not get quite a strong highlight like the one in my swatch. If you rub that away you can then glow greater than the gods to your heart’s content.

Obsession Halloween Palettes – If In Doubt Be A Unicorn & Be Very Afraid, Review & Swatches

Obsession Halloween Palettes – If In Doubt Be A Unicorn & Be Very Afraid, Review & Swatches

It’s the month of Halloween. Yes, the month of Halloween and it’s time to get your spook on. Obsession has got you covered this year with a couple of rather lovely palettes.

They cost £5 each and are available from Revolution Beauty or Boots. They both have 8 x 1.6g of product and have 6 different eyeshadows and 2 pressed glitters. Both are also Vegan.

If In Doubt Be A Unicorn

Obsession-Halloween-If-In-Doubt-Be-A-UnicornObsession-If-In-Doubt-Be-A-Unicorn-Palette-Inside

The Unicorn trend refuses to die here and I’m very much okay with that. This particular palette boasts holographic lettering on the front and some pretty pastel colours on the inside, all in a purple box.

All the colours are pigmented and blendable. The glitters are also brilliant but you need to either apply them with a finger or sponge tip applicator.

The only downside is some of them are very similar on the eye. Alternative and Entranced can get lost if you blend a little too much and Eternal and Magic dust can dupe one another.

Obsession-Halloween-If-In-Doubt-Be-A-Unicorn-Swatches

  • Alternative – Matte Baby Pink
  • Magic Dust – Pink Champagne Shimmer
  • Immortal – White Iridescent Glitter (Green, Pink Shift)
  • Entranced – Warm Mid Pink
  • Creature – Pressed Pink Gold Glitter
  • Unconventional – Matte Warm Purple
  • Elixir – Cool Cream Shimmer
  • Eternal – Champagne Shimmer

I like this palette, it’s a pretty pastel palette with lovely shades. It is however not a one and done palette. You’re definitely going to need something to team with this for a finished look. There are not enough deep colours for a finished look but as a compliment, I think it’s perfect.

Be Very Afraid

Obsession-Halloween-Be-Very-Afraid-PaletteObsession-Halloween-Be-Very-Afraid-Palette-Inside

Much more of a Halloween toned palette is the Be Very Afraid Palette. It’s got some lovely blood red foil letters on the top.

As with the Unicorn palette the colours are pigmented and blendable. The glitters are also brilliant but you need to either apply them with a finger or sponge tip applicator.

This one has a nice spread of colours that are really godo for a sunken eye look for even a full on glam look. Vampire or zombie, you’re very covered here.

Obsession-Halloween-Be-Very-Afraid-Swatches

  • No Sleep – Soft Matte Plum
  • Spooked – Matte Vivid Rust
  • Panic – Gold Pressed Glitter
  • Corrupt – Matte Black
  • Errie – Champagne Shimmer
  • Creepy – Gunmetal Shimmer with Green Shift
  • Petrify – Matte Deep Plum
  • Desecrate – Red Pressed Glitter

This one is a definitely one and done palette. There’s quite a combination of looks that can be done with this palette and actually it’s a really good complient to it’s sister.

Of the two, I prefer the Be Very Afraid Palette. It’s much more the tone of the season. If you’d like to get one they’re £5 at Revolution Beauty or Boots.

Which one is your fav?

Summer Movie Madness Finale

Summer Movie Madness Finale

I was invited to take part in another project pan collaboration, this time all about Summer Movies.

The basic rules of this project pan are, chose 7-10 products based on the movies below. It’ runs from the start of April to the end of August, which gives us plenty of time to either use up or make a nice dent in the products chosen.

The movies chosen were: 500 Days of Summer, Dirty Dancing, Airplane, The Notebook,  Jaws, National Lampoon’s Vacation, Jurassic Park, Almost Famous, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Blue Crush, The Parent Trap, Magic Mike, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Grease, The Little Mermaid

I ended up choosing only 7 products as I have a few project pans running already. The items I chose were Bossy Lippie Stick from Colourpop (Little Mermaid), Man Eater Metallic Lipstick from Colourpop (Jaws), Prep Fix & Glow fixing Spray from Obsession (Almost Famous), Stick Concealer from Collection Cosmetics (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants), Pool Boy Liner from OCC (Blue Crush), Posey Super Shock Shadow from Colourpop (Magic Mike) and MAC Prep and Prime (Grease).

Sleek Power Plump in Notorious Nude Review & Swatch

Sleek Power Plump in Notorious Nude Review & Swatch

Sleek’s Power Plumps retail for £5.50 from SleekMakeUp or your local retailer.

Sleek-Power-Plump-Notorious-Nude

They are pencil lip crayons in 6 shades, the one I have is Notorious Nude. Why they’re called power plump’s is because they plump up your lips. Now I found the tingly sensation that comes with this particular one quite strong. So if you’re not into that you might want to avoid this one.

Sleek-Power-Plump-Notorious-Nude-Swatch

The colour itself is cool light brown and is a very good nude for me. It’s not long lasting so does need to be reapplied. However, that does mean you’ll get the advantage of it replumping your lips. Also as it’s a pencil no liner is needed if you’ve got it sharpened. You will need a sharpener for this, it is not a twist up product.

All in all, for £5.50 this is a good buy.

Obsession Blush B107 Sun Ray – Review & Swatch

Obsession Blush B107 Sun Ray – Review & Swatch

Obsession is a Revolution brand. It’s mainly a build your own type of brand with lots of individual colours to build your own palette.

Obsession-Blush-Sun-Ray-B107-600

Now I was looking for a blush and happened to pop into Boots, which is where Obsession is sold. I was looking for a hot coral colour and saw this one. It’s £3, g and has a shelf life. You can get it online at Revolution Beauty and Boots.

Obsession-Blush-Sun-Ray-B107-Swatch

Sun Ray looks much more pink on the website than the item I own, so be aware it’s a much more coral colour.

It swatches well with a finger as you can see but I am having issues with it using a brush. It’s a buildable blush when used with a brush. Gou can get a strong colour, it just takes work.

So this may not be your perfect blush depending on how pigmented you like it to be. It’s not the kind of blush I like, I like a strong colour I can blend out rather than a buildable blush. I do like the coral colour of this, it’s kind cute and good for the season.

Personally this blush is not for me but if you’d like one get yours at Revolution Beauty or Boots for £3.

Rodial Suede Lips in Big Apple Review & Swatch

Rodial Suede Lips in Big Apple Review & Swatch

Rodial-Suede-Lips-Big-Apple

Rodial Suede Lips is a pencil lip colour with a matte finish. You can get this colour online from Rodial.co.uk for £22. I have the shade Big Apple, which is described as ‘a soft burgundy berry colour’.

rodial-suede-lips-big-apple-swatch

That’s not what I’d describe the colour as at all. I’d call it more of a neutral brown colour. I also found it hard to get even coverage and an even outline with this despite it being a pencil. I think that was due to the nature of it being a matte pencil.

Is it worth it £22, not for me. It’s a nice colour and I like the fact it’s a matte finish and it’s much more comfortable than the liquid versions. However, I can get full coverage and longer wear with liquid versions of this colour for cheaper too. For me it’s a pass.

Revolution Conceal and Define Review and Swatches for C0, C0.5, C1 and C6.5

Revolution Conceal and Define Review and Swatches for C0, C0.5, C1 and C6.5

Let’s have a little talk about the bloggers’ favourite new concealer. The Conceal and Define range from Revolution beauty took the blogosphere by storm when it was released. They’re also vegan and cruelty-free.

Revolution-Conceal-Define-Concealers-Header

There’s a total of 18 different shades in this range, catering for the very lightest to the very darkest of skin tones. There’s also a nice mixture of undertone coverage for warm, cool and neutral. Sadly nothing for olive undertones yet but maybe someday.
Revolution-Beauty-Define-And-Conceal-c0-c0.5-c1-c6.5-swatches

C0 is a pure white concealer. Perfect for the Goth in your life or for cut creases when nothing but a white base will do.

C0.5 is the lightest skin tone in the range. It’s pink based so if you’re cool toned this will be good for you. Not so great for very fair cool or olive tones.

C1 is the lightest neutral shade. Great for the very fair and olive kind. Still a touch too dark for me but I have a solution (the green one)

C6.5 is warm undertones suited towards the fair/medium end of the skin tone range. This one is almost the same depth as C1 but is slightly darker. Good one to colour correct with a bit of blue of you’re olive

All of these are high coverage concealers. They do set so do need to be blended out as soon as you place them on the skin. Of course, that means they don’t tend to shift even on my oily skin. I did have a few creasing issues on my fine lines under my eyes but I am 40. If you don’t have fine lines you will be fine.

Revolution-Conceal-Define-Wand

You get 4ml of product (although my original C1 has 3.4ml so the size must have been increased), which isn’t massive amounts of product. If you’re a heavy user of concealer you might find you run out of this fairly fast but at £4 a go it’s not a high ticket price. Of course with less product, you’re always going to be getting fresh product that’s less likely to go out of date. They have a shelf-life of 12 months once opened.

The wand is a doe foot applicator and nice and large. it works really well for under the eye area and highlighting the face. If you don’t use much you might find you get a little too much product out. I do really love this concealer.

They cost £4 and you can get them instore at Superdrug or online at Revolution Beauty.
