Lime Crime used to make some of the best unusual colour lipsticks. Sadly they don’t make them anymore. Styletto has always been one of my favourites.
So let’s move onto the one that is available right now on the Lime Crime website. that’s Black Velvet.
It’s described as True Black by Lime Crime and it is black. It’s much much deeper with two coats and has no coverage issues. I do find this transfers but I don’t have smudging issues with this one.
Velvetines cost £16 each from UK Suppliers or $20 USD from Lime Crime. If you’re in the UK, I’d definitely skip the Lime Crime website. Shipping is now $20.95.
Rosey Resistance is an orange based pink colour from the Extra Lasting Lipstick range. It costs £5 from their Avon website or from your local Avon Lady.
This had two ends, one with the colour and the other with a gloss. The colour end dries down but is a little sticky without the gloss over the top. The gloss is a plumping gloss and will make your lips tingle as the plumping effect happens.
The gloss itself does wear off and the colour does too. I’ve found it doesn’t stay the 8 hours but does wear well. It will definitely come off when eating food and does leave itself on glasses. It does tingle to plump the lips but I didn’t find it painful at all and did make my lips appear a little bigger.
With gloss starting to be the new trend, this one is great to go for. There are five other colours in this range. Wirth checking out if you’re okay with the tingle.
Jeffree Star has a well-loved line of liquid lipsticks. They cost £16 from UK Suppliers or $18 from Jeffree’s website. Shipping costs from $8 and increases with the package size. It does not include customs charges so expect an extra £8 and 20% on top of the cost.
Two of my favourite shades are of course the purple ones. Here we have Blow Pony and I’m Royalty.
Blow Pony is a described as a matte lavender and it really is. It pulls blue on my skin and is a bit pastel for my undertones but it’s a solid colour with no coverage issues.
I’m Royalty is described as royal purple for any diva who wants to make a statement. I love this colour on me. It’s actually almost exactly the same colour as Lime Crime’s Now discounted Pansy. Again it’s a solid colour with not coverage issues.
I do not find these smudge or budge. They’re well worth the cost. They cost £16 from UK Suppliers or $18 from Jeffree’s website.
Ever felt like there was too much stuff to buy and not enough time or cash to buy and use it all? Me too. Come along with me while I try to talk myself out of these things that I want. Maybe I’ll be able to help you too.
What is an Anti Haul?
You probably know what a haul is. It’s where someone shows you all the things they spent their money on. This is almost exactly the opposite of that. You sit down and think about what you want but you’re not going to buy, then make a video or a post about it.
There are many reasons for an anti haul, some of which are covered in the video itself. However, there are others.
Environmental
The more you buy, the more waste is created. From the manufacture of the product to the packaging it’s shipped in, to the warehouse or to you. The actual product itself has to be produced too. All of these things have a cost to the environment.
Trends
Trends come and go all the time. Last year the silicone sponge was very much in but I rarely see people using it now. Do you need to follow?
Less Pressure
If you stop following trends then suddenly the pressure is off. Keeping up with the ‘Leisure Class’ can be exhausting and expensive. Not to mention it can be a time suck. When you can have a little more time to yourself and relax.
Meet the original long stay liquid lipsticks. That’s the Superstay 24 hour wear lip colour. I have three of them. One of which is described as matte but given the top coat, it’s not really. They cost £8.99 each and you can get them from Boots or your local retailer.
All of them are slightly sheer, which is a bit of a shame but does look like a solid colour from the normal distance. They apply sticky and you have to use the balm to stop your lips sticking together. They are incredibly long-lasting. The balm comes off but the colour barely shifts. You can buy replacement balms should you run out or lose it. It’s a bit of a nightmare to remove but that means it doesn’t shift.
The first is Glowing Garnet 290. It’s a deep blue-based pink, with microfine blue glitter. The blue glitter does tend to get lost on the lips but it’s a very pretty colour.
The second is Fire Coral 815. It’s a bright orange with no coral undertones. This one is the sheerest and the most bright of the three.
The last of the three is Always Crimson 575. It’s a deep red-brown and the hardest to get a smooth colour with. It lasts for ages though and is a really nice colour.
Personally, I love these lipsticks. I wish Maybelline was cruelty-free because I’d repurchase these in a heartbeat but sadly they’re not. If you’d like them they cost £8.99 from your local retailer.
The Beauty Crop – Glamazon Stick is a crayon of creamy highlighter. You can get this beauty at TheBeautyCrop.com for £9.
It’s a creamy chubby stick with a golden glow, it has the finest particles of glitter in it. I found it works best as a glow under your regular foundation. It’ll last as long as your primer lets it. I know that’s a little vague but cream highlights tend to vanish on my oily skin fast. If you’re drier this will last longer.
You don’t need to sharpen this, it is a twist up which is perfect. It’s not for me with the golden shade of it but if you like golden highlights this could be perfect for you.
If you’d like to see what treats I got in this months parcel, check out the video above.
What is it?
The Pink Parcel is a monthly subscription box designed to make that time of the month a little bit better.
What’s in it?
Every month you’ll receive your choice of pads or tampons from a variety of brands. You’ll always receive night pads because Toxic Shock is a thing.
The exciting bit is the ‘For You’ box. Pink Parcel promises you £40 of treats each month. Every month you’ll get a tea of a different variety to try and a sweet treat. The sweet treat is often chocolate and often vegan too! They’re always yummy (in my opinion) and sometimes are packed with superfoods too.
You’ll then always receive five other health, wellbeing and beauty items. These range from face masks to essential oils to lipsticks.
So What’s The Cost?
This UK based box costs £12.99 including postage. You can get it here from the Pink Parcel Website. This link is a referral link and will get you your first box for £9.99.
There are also subscription plans should you chose to take them up.
LA Splash is a little American brand that exploded a few years ago. I have two of their formulas, the Studio Shine and the Lip Couture formulas.
They cost $14 each from the LASplash website or from UK suppliers for around £7.
I have the Studioshine formula in Sangre Azul. It’s the most incredible metallic navy blue.
I also have the Lip Couture formula in Vindictive. It’s a blue toned grey and is the most beautiful colour.
I cannot fault either of these for coverage or staying power.
I’m going to be honest here when they first came out the formulas were the best on the market. They’re incredibly long lasting, they come in a great range of colours. They are however really drying and incredibly hard to get off. You can’t use more than one layer otherwise they start to crumble and once they wear away at the centre of the lips you then have to remove it all. I can’t really recommend them these days. There are far better ones on the market. However, if you’re going out and want one that doesn’t budge this might be for you.
Today we’re featuring two unusual colours from Rimmel in liquid lipstick form. I bought both of these back in August of 2017 but didn’t get around to really using them until recently. The colours we’re talking about are Pitch Black and Shadow.
Pitch Black is as the name suggest black. It’s a true black with a matte finish and is long wearing. I did find I need to dip my wand in more than once to get an opaque finish. it’s also got an oddly oily texture when first applying it.
Shadow is a true grey and is also in the long wearing matte finish. Shadow is opaque in one dip but you do need to be careful when applying.
They both dry down fairly quickly, Shadow dries quicker than Pitch Black, to a matte finish. Both are removed easily with oil, which means while they’ll outlast drinks they’ll come off with food. They’re slightly drying on the lips but not horribly so. I like these. They’re really good for a highstreet long wear lipstick.
They cost £5.99 each for 5.5ml and can be found online at Superdrug.
It’s a project pan where I target a particular brand in my collection for use. This year I have chosen Colourpop and I’ve done so in particular because the Super Shock formula has a shorter shelf life and I would like to use them up before that happens.
If you’d like to see how I’m getting along please watch the video above. If you’ve got any comments or questions please feel free to leave them here or on the video.
