Trafalgar Square is a black/silver polish.

When first coated on the nails it does have a nice shine and if used without the magnet effect is actually quite an interesting shade.
It’s opaque in one coat but if you’re going for the magnetic look you are best off with two to prevent it being sheer in places. Just let it dry for a short time between coats.
The brush in the bottle is just right for me.
It’s not particularly chip resistant but will last a day for me. It’s last a lot longer if you don’t work with coins.

How to

• Paint the first layer and let dry
• Paint the second layer
• Immediately place the magnetic cap over the nail. There is a small lip to rest on you nail bed
• Leave for ten seconds
• Let dry and use a top coat

So is it worth it? . Don’t expect high chip resistance. It’s a nice effect and can be used with other brands magnetic caps for different looks on each nail if you like. A good little number for your nails.

Fever Red is a deep blood red nail polish from Makeup Academy. It costs £1 for 15 ml of product from their website or from Superdrug.

So the picture above is of the old style bottles. They’ve changed since I bought this and the brush is much improved.

It’s got a good shine and there’s little need for a top coat. It does, however, need a good couple of layers to make it opaque. Removal is easy and it doesn’t stain. The chip resistance is what you’d expect for a polish that is this price. Not brilliant but it’s not bad either.

For the price, it’s excellent quality.

Adore is a lilac purple from MakeUp Revolution. It costs £1 from the MUR website or from Superdrug.

It’s got the most amazing shine and goes on smoothly. You do need two layers but could easily get away with one, if you’re going to be using a glitter top coat.
Removal is simple and it’s got a good chip resistance.

For the price it is simply an excellent polish.

Meet Hayley’s Comet from Models Own. It’s part of the Beetlejuice collection and costs £4.99 from your local high street stockist or their website.

It’s a brown based polish with a myriad of colours in it. My photography skills lack the ability to catch all the colours in this but you can see most of them. There’s blue, pink, green and gold. This shines and changes colour depending on the light and the movement of your hand. It’s so very pretty.

It’s more sheer than opaque and can me used as a top coat if you want to change a colour you don’t really like. If you want it to be opaque you’ll need a good three coats. Dry time is about average depending on the amount you use.

It’s not a glitter polish and removes normally. Wear is good and stands up against chipping.

I like this polish.

From the Velvet Goth collection by Models Own, this is Obsidian. It cost £4.99 online, at their bottleshops or in your local high street store.

Obsidian was a polish I took a risk on. It’s described as intensely inky pigmented colours each with an extraordinary 2D finish. Matte yet sparkly at the same time, each shade applies glossy and dries down giving a multi-faceted effect that can be seen but not felt!

It sounded curious so I bought it. The result is interesting and I’m not entirely in love with it. It’s certainly 2D and different. The fact it’s a matte polish does dampen the glitter.
Since it is a glitter polish, it’s is chip resistant and awful to take off. That is of course unless you have MUA’s Peel off Basecoat.

I do like this but I’m just not in love with it. It’s an unusual polish and is something I will wear.

Illamasqua’s nail varnish in Poke costs £14.50.

Poke is described as bright violet purple with a shimmer finish.

It’s a bright violet polish with a silver shimmer to it. It’s simply beautiful in real life. It only needs two coats to be opaque and has a good level of chip resistance. It’s got a lovely shine without a top coat.

The brush in the bottle is a little thin for my liking, I prefer paddle brushes but that’s a minor thing.

I adore this colour and the shine of the polish. Removal is the same as for ordinary polish. Despite the silver shimmer, it’s not like glitter polish. It’s a great polish.

llamasqua’s Blizzard nail polish. It costs £14.50 from the Illamasqua website.

Blizzard is described as a Snow glitter nail finish.

It’s a chunky glitter top coat. The glitter particulates aren’t shiny at all, more of a satin finish. There are two distinct sizes of them which does make it look like snow. If you’re not great at nail art, these are quite good for helping you get there.
Since the snow is not so dense it doesn’t have the staying power of glitter polish. It however as much of a pain to remove.

The brush in the bottle is a little thin for my liking, I prefer paddle brushes but that’s a minor thing.

I like it and think it would look stunning on a graduated blue nail rather than the choice I made here. Very much worth it.

U Rok is a nice purple colour polish from MakeUp Academy.

It’s part of the Love Hearts range of polishes which have six different pastel shades.

The polish goes on nicely and needs two layers to be opaque. It dries in the normal time for polishes and has a good shine when dry. It’s not particularly chip resistant but it’s not expensive. It’s also on the cheap side of polish costing only £2.00 from Superdrug.

Do I recommend this? Yes, for the price it’s a perfectly good polish and great purple colour.

Makeup Academy’s mystical glitter nails in Mermaid, is a bright blue polish with lots of micro fine glitter in it. It costs £2.50 from the MUA website or from your local superdrug store.

It’s a lovely blue polish that has a great shine. The glitter particles are so small that it looks different to every other polish I’ve tried.
As it’s a glitter polish it’s chip resistant but unlike other glitter polish it isn’t as much of nightmare to get off as you’d think. it doesn’t really need a top coat but if you want a smooth shiny finish you can add one.

So it’s cheap and chip resistant, yes I love it.
