The Wet Cherry Lip gloss bundle costs $54 from Lime Crime. There are four glosses in this bundle and they’re available separately at Lime Crime for $18 each. They have 2.96 ml of product and a 12-month shelf life once opened. They are vegan and cruelty-free.
For Halloween this year Lime Crime released a new set of limited edition wet cherry glosses. I decided to get them as I’ve been getting more into glosses recently. I wasn’t expecting to be impressed and to be blunt, I wasn’t.
Now I do like the texture of Lime Crime’s glosses but without fail, the swatches for the glosses on the Lime Crime website are nothing like the actual product. There are swatches on their Instagram that are much closer, although much more even than I could get them.
Spooky Cherry
Let’s start with Spooky Cherry, described as Black with iridescent sparkle. The swatch on the website is the closest and this is the one that’s getting the most pushback on their socials. It looks like a lovely black gloss in the tube but on the lips, it’s a sheer grey colour with glitter in it. The glitter does not look iridescent but that may be the grey of the gloss muting it.
This one will probably go best over black lipstick. However, it could alternatively be used to mute too bright colours.
Monster Cherry
Monster Cherry is the gloss version of Serpentina. It’s actually described as Serpentina green sparkle. It’s not quite as disappointing as the Velvetine version. If you have the Velvetine version, this will be perfect to go over the top of it. This one is semi-opaque with lots of small glitter in it. I’m not a fan of the sheerness of this one. To get it opaque you have to use a couple of thick layers and that makes it goopy.
Cherry Potion
Cherry Potion is the most normal colour of the bunch. It’s described as Red Orange sparkle and it is that. It’s also on the sheer side and not something I’ll wear on its own. I feel like most of the colour of this one comes from the glitter so it comes off as patchy.
Poison Cherry
Poison Cherry is my favourite of the bunch, described as Poisonberry sparkle. It’s perhaps the most opaque of the bunch, with the strongest colour in the gloss. The glitter in it is purple and blue, which looks very pretty when it catches the light. Again this is going to look better over a lipstick or lip liner. I’m still a little disappointed in it but I’ll definitely wear this one and probably on its own, which is not something I can say about the other three.
While personally, I like the texture of these glosses I’m not sure these are worth it. That is unless you’re into sheer glosses, which I am not. Will I get use out of these? Yes. I wouldn’t be repurchasing these even if they weren’t limited edition though. If you were to get one I’d say Poison Cherry is the one I’d recommend the most.
