So you may not know that a couple of weekends ago I attended the Beauty UK Show. It’s a trade only show that showcases the best of beauty, nails, hair and holistic health. It’s held in the NEC and takes up three halls.
I caught the train there and it was a long walk but very much worth it. I actually didn’t get as much as I thought I would. There were plenty of things to see, speakers to listen to and brands on offer but I went with my mum (who’s a reflexologist) so I was a bit tied up with what she wanted to do and see as well as what I did.
One of the main reasons I went to the show was to catch up with NYX and see if they had the Macaron collection in. The answer to that is no, sadly they have only just submitted it for tests for the European market and we have a lot more rules. Instead, I did pick up a couple of new jumbo pencils. I also picked up the NYX box of shadows. I don’t actually have any NYX shadows so I thought this would be a good test of the quality. It’s currently on sale on the NYX website for £28 (originally £35), but at the show, it was just £16.50. A real bargain.
I picked up some nail decals. As I’m in the process of swatching all my polishes I need something to decorate them. These are water transfers so it’ll be interesting to play with them.
Lastly, I also picked up a few brushes from Royal Langnickel. It’s a brand I often see at the trade shows. They’re synthetic brushes, so vegan and cruelty-free. I decided on a travel set since I wanted two of the brushes in the set and it was almost the same for the set as it would have been for the brushes. Since these are for personal use the shorter handles are always an advantage. I also got a bent eyeliner brush. I can’t wait to see how this performs.
It’s a good day out and there are some great speakers. I wish I’d had a chance to spend the day. Do make sure you take cash, do take good shoes and do take your own food. It was expensive and not very good. I will head out next year and try to get there for both days. Well worth it if you’re in the trade.
